Ana Navarro did not hold back on this morning’s episode of The View, issuing strong criticism of Univision after the network’s widely condemned interview with former president Donald Trump.
Whoopi Goldberg introduced the topic, explaining that the interview, which aired on Univision Nov. 7 and was conducted at Trump’s Mar-a-Lago home, has been ripped by critics for its “beyond … softball” questions.
“Latino celebrities like John Leguizamo and You Know Who are calling—” she began, referring to Navarro, who took issue with the moniker.
Navarro quipped, “Don’t call me You Know Who, call me Ana! That’s like being called Voldemort.”
Goldberg refuses to say Trump’s name on The View, and instead calls him You Know Who. She immediately realized her mistake and laughed, then opened the floor up to Navarro to explain why she and other Latino stars are speaking out against the network.
Navarro, who said she’s gotten “so many calls” about the controversy, described Univision as “the place where Spanish-speaking Latinos go to get informed, to form educated opinions [and] get engaged.”
Applauding the network’s “tremendous” anchor Jorge Ramos, Navarro was sure to clarify that a different journalist carried out the Trump interview.
“I’ve seen many a strongman, many a corrupt leader squirm under the questioning of Jorge Ramos. But they didn’t have Jorge Ramos do this interview,” she said. “They had a guy named Enrique Acevedo, who is supposedly a good journalist, I don’t know him. But he sat there like if he was interviewing a panda!”
Navarro then encouraged disappointed Univision viewers to hold the network “accountable,” urging them, “use your voice” and “use your remote controls.”
Later on in the segment, she tore into Acevedo again, saying he was “sitting there smiling at Mar-a-Lago like if he was interviewing Barney the Dinosaur. ‘I love you, you love me, we’re a happy family.'”

Her comments on today’s show echo what she posted on Instagram over the weekend. In a video shared to her account, she blasted the “ridiculous” and “embarrassing” interview, saying, in part, “I don’t know what the hell is going on in Univision but I do think we need to talk about it. I do think we need to demand transparency and accountability from that very important and crucial network for the Latino community.”
The View airs weekdays at 11/10c on ABC.
