This weekend, there’s a plethora of new movies on VOD, including dozens of new Hallmark holiday movies, as well as loads of dramas, comedies, an everything in between. At the top of our must-watch list is Dumb Money, the real-life story of the 2021 Game Stop stock scandal, which stars Paul Dano and Pete Davidson, based on the book The Antisocial Network. FOE is another book-turned-movie that’s out on demand this week; this one stars Paul Mescal and Saoirse Ronan as a married couple living in a dystopian future.
If that sounds a bit too serious, turn your attention to Daniel Radcliffe in a wig in Weird: The Al Yankovic Story. This film, which co-stars Evan Rachel Wood, Rainn Wilson, and features a huge supporting cast of comedians playing mid-’80s celebrities, is a parody of biopics (what else would it be?), with Radcliffe starring as Al Yankovic. The real Weird Al also appears in the film and co-wrote the screenplay. The film first premiered on the Roku Channel in 2022, it’s now widely available on VOD.
These are just a few of the titles that are available to watch on Amazon Prime Video, iTunes, YouTube, and through your cable service this week. Check out what movies are available to buy or rent on demand now.
Dumb Money
Dumb Money is the true story of Keith Gill (Paul Dano), a financial analyst who led a massive short squeeze of stock in Game Stop in 2021. The squeeze wreaked havoc on investment firms and made Gill something of a modern financial folk hero. Jam-packed with stars, including Pete Davidson, Nick Offerman, Sebastian Stan, and America Ferrera, Dumb Money was released in theaters in September and is now available to stream on demand.
FOE
In FOE, Paul Mescal and Saoirse Ronan play Junior and Henrietta, a married couple living in the near-future, who are struggling to get by. Junior is approached by a stranger named Terrance (Aaron Pierre), who tells him he has been chosen to live aboard a space station for two years, and he will be replaced by a robot that will live with Henrietta who is essentially a clone of Junior. Though Junior’s role will help advance chances for human survival, the existential question here is whether or not their relationship can survive the experiment.
