New Movies & Shows To Stream This Weekend: Lessons in Chemistry, The Fall of the House of Usher, Goosebumps + More
Brie Larson stars in the TV adaptation of Bonnie Garmus’s novel, Lessons in Chemistry – the first two episodes of the series debut on Apple TV+ this week. On Netflix, horror auteur Mike Flanagan is back with his latest series, The Fall of the House of Usher, which draws on the works of Edgar Allen Poe as its source material. And on Disney+, there’s a new Goosebumps series inspired by the works of R.L. Stine, this one starring Justin Long, Zack Morris, and Rachael Harris.
New on Apple TV+ October 13: Lessons on Chemistry
Set in the 1960s, Lessons In Chemistry stars Brie Larson as Elizabeth Zott, a scientist who is not taken seriously because she’s a woman and later finds success as the host of a cooking show. The first two episodes of Lessons in Chemistry arrive on Apple TV+ this Friday, with the final six episodes airing weekly.
New on Netflix October 12: The Fall Of The House of Usher
Mike Flanagan’s shows have become something of a Halloween tradition on Netflix, and in The Fall of the House of Usher, he reunites some of his go-to stars like Carla Gugino, Zack Gilford, Kate Siegel, and Samantha Sloyan for a modern take on one of Poe’s most chilling stories, in which the last remaining heirs of the Usher family mysteriously start to die.
New on Disney+ and Hulu October 13: Goosebumps
R.L. Stine’s books are part of the kid-lit canon, and they’ve served as an entry point for horror-curious pre-teens for decades. Though his books were turned into an anthology series in the 1990s, they’re getting a reboot on Disney+ and Hulu this year, as favorite stories like The Haunted Mask and Say Cheese And Die! are used as inspiration for the ten-episode series about five teens haunted by a mysterious murder in their town 30 years earlier. The first five episodes of Goosebumps drop Friday, with the final five airing weekly on Fridays.
