Jenna Bush Hager Panics After Thinking She Flashed The Camera On ‘Today’: “I Thought Something Really Bad Was Happening!”

There was a hiccup during Tuesday’s (Nov. 21) broadcast of Today With Hoda & Jenna when Jenna Bush Hager thought she suffered a major wardrobe mishap on camera.

Bush Hager and Hoda Kotb were in the middle of discussing recent headlines when someone from their film crew appeared to whisper something off camera.

“What?” Kotb asked. After the crew member repeated themselves, she told Bush Hager, “Oh, your necklace is on the mic.”

Bush Hager, who seemed tense when they reappeared on camera, immediately seemed to relax. “They scared me! I literally closed my legs,” she said, causing Kotb to laugh. “I was like, what is happening? What is happening?! I thought something really bad was happening, but it was just my necklace.”

Kotb added, “What I love about these shows is when they’re like [whispering] ‘The necklace is blocking the mic.’ And we’re like, ‘What?!’ We can’t hear anything.”

Bush Hager began to pretend that she was covering herself up. “I was like, What is showing?! Something was showing that was inappropriate.”

This is the second day in a row that Today was momentarily derailed. Just yesterday, the broadcast took a pause when Bush Hager accidentally called her husband “daddy” on air.

Bush Hager was talking about her three-year-old son, Hal, and her husband, Henry Hager. “Hal wants to be baby Diamond and have Daddy be—,” she said, before immediately cutting herself off. “First of all, I just called my husband ‘daddy’ on television.”

She appeared to be mortified by her mistake.

“Namaste,” Kotb told her. “Isn’t it weird if all the things you said in your own house, you said out loud? People would think you are crazy.”

But Bush Hager could not move on, saying, “I just called my husband ‘daddy,'” as Kotb laughed. “Is there like a corner I can go sit in for a few minutes?”
