If you’re going to subscribe to one streaming platform in Fall 2023, it probably better be Apple TV+. As we outlined in our Fall 2023 TV Preview, Apple’s streaming service is basically spoiling its customers at a time when other streamers, networks, and studios are flailing to piece together a slate in the midst of the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes. While network TV strains to entertain viewers with wall-to-wall game shows and reruns of hits, Apple TV+ is offering its subscribers a wildly robust slate of exciting television and Oscar-bait films. Just last Friday, LaKeith Stanfield‘s The Changeling debuted, this Wednesday, Jennifer Aniston and Reese Witherspoon welcome Mad Men‘s Jon Hamm to The Morning Show, and by the year’s end, multiple major Oscar contenders will find their way to streaming on Apple TV+. All in all, Apple TV+ has the most outrageously exciting Fall 2023 slate of any of its competitors.
When Apple first announced the launch of Apple TV+ in 2019, it was unclear if the omnipresent tech company could catch up to already established rivals like Netflix, Hulu, and Prime Video in the streaming wars. Sure, they had money and they had star power, but it takes more than that to build a loyal consumer base. You need to provide consistent quality. Since then, Apple TV+ has dominated pop culture with the zeitgeist defining hit comedy Ted Lasso, taken home the Best Picture Oscar for the darling drama CODA, and stealthily established itself as home for inventive, stylish, and ground-breaking genre storytelling.
This fall, Apple TV+ subscribers can look forward to the finale of Foundation‘s strongest season yet, weekly MLB games with Friday Night Baseball, and Martin Scorsese’s long-awaited adaptation of David Grann’s Killers of the Flower Moon. Oscar-winner Brie Larson will be taking on perhaps the riskiest role of her career yet: Elizabeth Zott, the inimitable heroine of Bonnie Garmus’s Lessons in Chemistry. Real-life father and son Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell will play the same hero battling Godzilla in different decades in Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. Errol Morris will profile the slippery master of the spy genre, David Cornwall, aka John Le Carré, in the documentary film The Pigeon Tunnel. And Sir Ridley Scott will drop his latest historic epic, Napoleon.
Apple TV+ offers a free one-week subscription to new customers and then costs $6.99/month after that. There are no ads on Apple TV+ and the service usually rolls out new episodes of your favorite shows on a weekly basis, meaning you won’t burn through your faves or burn out on content. But most importantly, Apple TV+ has something for everyone premiering this fall.
From the return of the star-studded soap The Morning Show to early Oscar-favorite film Killers of the Flower Moon, here are twelve reasons why you might want to make sure you have an Apple TV+ subscription for Fall 2023….
